"Why are you always traveling?"

A few days back, I got a private message from my teacher way back from the university. We don't communicate regularly but I see her posts in my newsfeed since we are friends in a social network. I was on-line that time and I have read her message the moment she sent it. I stopped for a while and read it for a few times. The realization shook me then. Do I really know the deeper meaning and the reason why I was always traveling all these years?

As far as I can remember, I always think of traveling. During my younger years, I used to read a lot of books that I vividly imagine what I was reading. But most of the time, I am very particular of imagining the location. My family is not rich, so we can't afford to travel that much. But by reading, I was able to travel with the heroine. When I was in grade school, I read about a lot of landmarks and historical sites from our textbooks. I thought that someday, I would be able to visit these places. I'm always fascinated with customs and traditions. Each history was so colorful that it has molded a place for what it is now. I get to know the locals and eat their food.

People travel for a lot of reasons, be it for work or leisure. That very moment, when my teacher asked about my reason/s, it took me minutes before I replied. I traveled because my country is so beautiful that getting to different places felt so good that it erases my reality for a while. I only go to where my heart leads. Traveling is my fantasy. I go to places that are secluded and non-commercialize. I even joked that after all my traveling to different places in the Philippines, I haven't been to Boracay. Hearing this, people laughed at me. They didn't believe me. Traveling eases my satiety for beauty that only nature can give.
