The calmness of the sea. |
A weekend in silence and nature is a must if you are busy the whole week in the hustle and bustle life in the city. This place is a perfect getaway. Alibijaban Island is located in San Andres, Quezon Province. With its white fine sand and pristine blue water, this island is one of the best in the country.

A dramatic sunset of end a lovely day. |
It's a nine-hour trip from Manila. There are buses in Quezon City that goes directly to San Andres. Barney and Superlines bus lines has daily trips to and from the place. When I first went there, we opted to cut trips. From, Buendia in Manila, we rode a DLTB bus to Lucena Grand Terminal, then we rode the slowest local bus going to the Port of San Andres. You may choose to ride a van instead to cut the long hours of riding the John Tom bus. Since it was a long trip, we had breakfast in a food stall near the public wet market. We had some last minute shopping for our two-day stay in the island. There are no drinking water in the island, so I advice that you buy water in a refilling station near the gate of the port.

Port of San Andres. |
We paid our terminal fee at the port. If you are going to stay in the barangay of the island, there are passenger boats that you can pay for Php 20 per person. But our group chose to camp in a private beach a few kilometers away from the barangay. There are stores at the barangay, but I'm not sure if there are drinking water available there. We chartered a boat going to the private beach since it is out of the way. We haggled it for a decent price that includes a boat tour around the island, a snorkeling site where we can swim, and our ride back to the port the following day.
It's time for you to relax, enjoy life, and think.
